ZimVim Update

To: Our Zim Vim Friends

Words and pictures cannot begin to describe the depth and breadth of the impact that your support has made on our friends and family at The Hanwa Mission School in Zimbabwe. Our team of fifteen people has now safely returned from our three week journey. Below you will find only a few of the hundreds of pictures that were taken as we participated in the construction of a very large Classroom and Administrative School Building and the distribution of over 500 textbooks. In addition, we helped in the planting of over 6,000 pepper plants and 4,500 tomato plants in the two large greenhouses that have been put in place. Our activities also included a huge “Fun Day” for the 600+ Primary School students and a “Field Day” for the Secondary School students. A “Day For Girls” was also held for women’s health issues with the Secondary School students. We were also able to visit many homebound families and shared large baskets of food and personal hygiene supplies. Another highlight included several days of professional teacher development activities led by some of our team members who are professional educators here in the U.S.

Your faithful response to our appeal for financial support enabled us to raise over $210,000 for this year’s effort. Click here for a financial summary that identifies all of our sources of funding along with a listing of how the funds were used. Your support enabled us to continue our 27 year tradition of engaging in a “Ministry of Presence” in The Murewa District in Zimbabwe. We not only helped to build buildings and greenhouses, but we also continued to “build relationships” with our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe. This is an incredible testimony to the “global connection” of United Methodist Church. We are humbled by the opportunity to serve on your behalf.

Many thanks,

Charlie and the entire Zim Vim Team
