Caring Ministry
The Caring Ministry serves the people of Community UMC through expressing God’s love and gracious care to those who may need a little extra TLC.
Community UMC’s card ministry is an intentional practice of sending out notes or greeting cards in order to encourage, thank, and celebrate key milestones and achievements within our church family.

This group helps to host a reception or meal following a funeral or memorial service. These events are a chance both to remember and celebrate the deceased’s life, and to anticipate the promise of resurrection in Jesus Christ.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets monthly on the second Thursday at 7:00 pm. This ministry is on a mission to use the gifts of their hands—knitting and crocheting—to create gifts that offer comfort and love to others. Their shawls and lap robes, afghans and caps are given freely to anyone needing an “extra hug” in times of sorrow, sadness, or joy to remind them of God’s unfailing love and power in our lives. They also make Peace Pals for mission trips, scarves for the homeless, regular size and receiving blankets for Comfort Cares. If you don’t know how to knit/crochet, we can teach you.
Coordinators: Rita Boller & Carol Moore
The Prayer Vine is an extension of Community UMC’s pastoral ministry of caring for each other through prayer. Prayer is the means of staying connected with Jesus and with each other. This self-nominated prayer group regularly prays for those who have requested prayer through the Prayer Vine. The Vine has been a vital ministry at Community since September 2006 and looks to John 15:5 – “Jesus said, ‘I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit’.” Jesus is the Source of our spiritual nourishment and growth. All pray-ers are welcome.
