Every child deserves to feel celebrated. For families experiencing food insecurity, a birthday cake can feel out of reach, and this simple joy can become an unmet need. Sprinkle Birthday Joy is our way of making birthday celebrations accessible for kids and families in our community.
Each Birthday Kit includes a boxed cake mix and a 12 oz can of soda, which can be used in place of eggs, oil, and water. Just mix the cake mix with soda, bake, and celebrate. Kits are donated to local food pantries and shared with kids and families in need.
Whether you live near or far, you can sprinkle celebration into your community:
- Fund Joy: Make a financial contribution to help offset the cost of the project and other food insecurity initiatives.
- Share Joy: See below for instructions and printables to create birthday kits to share with your community
February 2026 Impact:
- On February 21, around 70 volunteers, ages 18 months to 80+, packed over 60 birthday cake kits for underserved kids in our community. That’s over 60 children who will feel remembered and celebrated on their special day, and 60+ families who won’t have to worry about how they’re going to afford ingredients for a cake, or birthday extras like fun plates and a birthday card. The enthusiam for this project enabled us to increase our initial goal from 36 kits and two recipient organizations, to 60 kits distributed to three organizations (Sarah’s House, the CCCC Food Pantry, and Communities Together Inc.) It took nearly 1,000 items to pack the kits, all generously donated or purchased with donated funds. Whether it was a box of cake mix, a monetary donation, or a bit of time on a Saturday morning, every contribution made a difference. Thank you for sprinkling joy and kindness into our community.
