Local Missions

37 “Then those who are righteous will reply to him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you, or naked and give you clothes to wear? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “Then the king will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.’ Matthew 25:37-40

Throughout our history, Community UMC has supported a number of local missions. Currently, we partner with the following organizations to serve our local community (and beyond):

Backpack Meals This team provides a “sack” of non-perishable food items every week during the school year aimed at supplementing the weekend meals of students at local schools. These students are identified by the Guidance Counselors in their respective schools and must participate in the free breakfast and free lunch programs. Volunteers pack and deliver the meals to four elementary schools in Crofton.

Manna House This organization provides the homeless and poor of Baltimore City with the assistance and support to move towards independence and stability. Community UMC has been supporting Manna House for several years, providing and serving meals, along with fundraising. For more information, visit the Manna House website.

Crofton Christian Caring Council (CCCC) Community UMC functions in a co-operative relationship with area churches to provide emergency assistance for those in need.  We host the Baby Pantry, open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Primary areas of service (up to $300 may be available to clients residing in): Crofton, Gambrills, Crownsville, Odenton, Millersville, and Davidsonville.
