Guide

A person’s steps are made secure by the Lord when they delight in his way. Though they trip up, they won’t be thrown down, because the Lord holds their hand. Psalm 37:23-24

Your word is a lamp before my feet and a light for my journey. Psalm 119:105

You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Devotion
How does the Lord “Guide” your life?

In my spiritual walk, I have been “guided” by several words and quotations, reminding me of the goodness of God. When others read the significant “words” or the quotation, they ask me what the words mean to me as an expression of my Faith. These shared experiences “Guide” me on the path He wants me to go.

I have a FAITH and a BLESSED T-Shirt. I also have BELIEVE on a pocket-sized rock, greeting cards, and a small wooden “Believe” Christmas ladder that sits next to my chair. All of these provide support and “Guidance” for me.

My wife, Mary Beth, and I have sweatshirts with words and quotes that often speak to others when we wear them. People frequently share how meaningful the messages are to them.

The front of the sweatshirt says, “You Are Enough.” The back reads: “Dear person behind me, the world is a better place with you in it. Love, the person in front of you.”

After wearing her sweatshirt one day, Mary Beth encountered someone who became tearful upon reading the message. They said they really needed those words and asked for a hug. Experiences like this remind us of the importance of sharing messages that not only “guide” our own lives but also encourage others on their “faith” journey.

My prayer is for you to have those special words or quotations in your life that help show you the way and help you stay true to your growth in your Faith.

Prayer
Dear God, we are thankful you provide us with many different ways to be guided in our Faith journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to have scripture, hymns, worship services, small group study, etc. Please bless the ZIMVIM mission team and the residents of Hanwa as they help “Guide” one another and enrich their spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
