From time to time, CUMC Board of Trustees member Dennis Furman will offer updates on buildings and ground projects here, in the Trustee Corner. If you have questions about the status of these or any other projects related to the buildings and grounds, please share those with the church office and Dennis can address those in future updates.
Over the past four months, the Board of Trustees at Community United Methodist Church has focused on practical projects to keep our building safe and functional. They sold an unneeded school van, trimmed several high and potentially dangerous tree branches, cared for the autumn removal of leaves, made provisions for a major snow and ice event, upgraded our security camera system, repaired sanctuary lighting, and handled many smaller maintenance tasks that improve safety and comfort throughout the church. We’re grateful for the steady work that often happens behind the scenes, and we welcome our new chairwoman, Carol Streeter, and secretary, Betsy Hebron, as they step into their leadership roles.
As Spring season comes into view, we look forward to volunteers gathering the morning of Saturday, March 21st for a winter clean-up so that we are ready for the Eggstravaganza Easter Egg hunt on March 28th and Easter the following week. That includes cleaning up the outdoor worship space so it is ready for 6:30am sunrise service on Easter!
Speaking of Spring cleaning, it is time for us to clear some clutter inside the church too. In the coming weeks we will share images of items in church closets or classrooms that do not appear to be in regular use, or otherwise do not seem to have a purpose. For example, an HVAC unit shares a closet with food service items such as china and coffee decanters which are rarely used. We will post images of the china and other objects which the church may choose to more properly secure, sell, or share as a donation. Stay tuned to the E-Connection for items which may be of interest.
