Way back in January, while Michelle and Pastor Stan were visiting their daughter, Becca, Stan introduced what he hopes becomes a new tradition in our faith community – Seed Sunday.
On that Sunday (and after), you were invited to come forward and – guided by the Spirit – reach into a basket and claim a “seed” representing one of the listed fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. Your task was to then to cultivate that seed in you – to let the Holy Spirit empower you into being more loving or joyful or peaceful or patient or good or kind or gentle or faithful or self-controlled. God desires to work in you and with you to make you more like Jesus – the fruit of the Spirit are the qualities of Jesus.
On June 23, we will start a new series, to see how the “watering and fertilizing and weeding” is going as the Holy Spirit works in you. We all have natural abilities, talents and personalities that make us uniquely and wonderfully made, but God also offers us the supernatural power to conform into the image of Christ. Are you “taking advantage” of this grace that God offers you?
Our series, is appropriately titled “Supernatural – Claiming the Holy Spirit’s Power to Become More Like Jesus.” Join us and celebrate the work that God has done, is doing and will do – in you. (And if you haven’t gotten a seed yet – don’t worry, we’ll have more ready for you to select and cultivate.)
