The Capital Gazette has a wonderful article about our Scout Troop 214 and the celebration of their first year as a troop of all girls. It also includes a shoutout to Community UMC as their charter organization.
“BSA Committee Chair Becky Pluta believes the girls would not be able to become scouts if it weren’t for their sponsor, Community United Methodist Church in Crofton.
‘The church is one of those who stepped in to assist the girls because there are girls around the United States who want to be scouts but don’t have anyone to sponsor them,’ said Pluta. ‘From the moment it was whispered, CUMC immediately said ‘Yes.’ The church has supported this troop to help them do what they do.”
