This September and October, we spent seven Sundays unpacking and destigmatizing the 12 Steps of Addiction Recovery via the series “Mustard Seed Change – How 12 Small Steps Can Lead to Huge Transformation.” In November, you are invited to continue “stepping.”
By now, many of us would just like to take a break from all this “hiking,” and get some rest. A pandemic, racial injustice and election tensions are stressors to all of us – how can we find peace in the midst of all this unrest? Jesus said in Matthew 11, “Come to me all of you who are weary and over-burdened and you will find rest for your souls.” Rest by following Christ. Walking in the dust of our Rabbi is meant to be a liberating journey into His Kingdom.
Rest. For our souls. A better life is possible. Jesus doesn’t offer to take our burdens away but he does offer us a redistributive rest while we carry them and Grace to strengthen us. This November, we’ll be exploring four key teachings of Jesus in the middle of the Gospel of Matthew beginning with Matthew 11. If you are interested in Stepping Forward to a Better Life, then please join us.
