The Old Testament Lesson

Like in Isaiah 2, the prophet paints a picture of a world ruled by Yahweh that is bathed in peace and wisdom. Like God’s chosen people, we get to join in journeying towards this better world. Listen and long for Christ’s reign.

Hymn for the Word

“For the Healing of the Nations” points us to Revelation 22:2 with the promise of healing on the new earth. It begins as a prayer asking God to move – to heal. Sing this hymn as your prayer for a peace-filled world.

The Epistle Lesson

In this lesson, an entire Samaritan village recognizes that Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus’ mission to these people foreshadows God’s intention to create One people – who worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

Affirmation of Faith

We thank you for your church, founded upon your Word,
that challenges us to do more than sing and pray,
but go out and work as though the very answer to our prayers
depended on us and not upon you.

Help us to realize that humanity was created
to shine like the stars and live on through all eternity.
Keep us, we pray, in perfect peace.
Help us to walk together,
pray together,
sing together,
and live together until that day when all God’s children

––Black, White, Red, Brown and Yellow––
will rejoice in one common band of humanity
in the reign of our Lord and of our God, we pray.
