A Brave Conversation
Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 26, starting at 6 p.m., for a “Brave Conversation.” Led by our facilitator, K Scarry, we will have a time of guided conversation on several issues facing our church on the topic of race.
A group of key leaders from the church have been working with K for the past several weeks to plan and prepare for this gathering. K comes to us via the Baltimore-Washington Conference and her work in leading these conversations.
This gathering is the start of a larger conversation about what it means to be a United Methodist Christian at Community UMC right now. We’ll talk about the Black Lives Matter banner, what it means to be anti-racist, and how we see ourselves moving forward.
This meeting will be in-person only, in Fellowship Hall. There will be no votes taken during the meeting. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP here so we can prepare accordingly.
