New worship series beginning April 28: 50 Days of Joy!

How did this happen? Of all the holy seasons of the year, when did the church slip into celebrating the most important event in the history of humanity ONE DAY a year? Easter in most Christian circles gets one day . . . and then drops off the map. We spend all manner of energy on Lent over 40 days and then bang! Huge celebration followed by . . . crickets chirping. How can this be!?! It’s time to make Easter what it’s supposed to be. Historically, resurrected Jesus spent 50 days hanging out with his disciples and Eastertide is 50 days. FIFTY DAYS. It’s not time to put the Easter hymns away until next year. It’s time to party. It’s time to celebrate the event that changes everything, the moment when mourning turned to joy. Are you missing joy? Need more joy? Then join us for 50 Days of Joy – an extended celebration of Easter looking through the lens of Jesus’ extended stay on this planet and Paul’s amazing letter to the Philippian church. In a world full of a pain and violence, hate and suffering, we need joy more than ever. Journey with us for fifty days. Re-center and reboot and reclaim the message of Easter joy in your everyday life.

Lenten Worship

In the season of Lent, our worship series will be an exploration Rob Fuquay’s book, The God We Can Know – Exploring the “I Am” Sayings of Jesus.

March 10 – Knowing the Great “I AM”
March 17 – “I Am the Bread of Life”: Knowing God’s Satisfaction
March 24 – “I Am the Light of the World”: Knowing God’s Guidance
March 31 – “I Am the Good Shepherd”: Knowing God’s Care
April 7 – “I Am the True Vine”: Knowing God’s Power
April 14 – “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”: Knowing God’s Way
April 21 – “I Am the Resurrection and the Life”: Knowing God’s Possibilities

Beginning in March, we will also be facilitating a church-wide small group study of the book The God We Can Know. Sign up online to connect into a group!

This Lent, we’re reviving the 16:24 Experiment. Jesus said in Matthew 16:24f, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. . .”

This call by Jesus is the perfect theme verse for Lent as we are called to journey with Jesus to Jerusalem and the crucifixion. Jesus reminds us of the high commitment for those who would join with him. To bring this call alive, we have nail cross necklaces at the altar for you to wear daily throughout the 40 days of Lent. Carry your cross. Be a witness. Come to the altar pray that God would give you opportunities this season to share your faith – to love your friends, neighbors and co-workers as you witness to Christ’s sacrificial love.
